Told by Big G to small “J”
⸻
“Alright, kiddo, snuggle up. You want to hear the one about how it all began?”
small “J” nods, wide-eyed.
“Okay. So, back before time even had a time… there was nothing. I mean, nothing. No TikTok. No clouds. No clouds in the sky, even. Just… darkness. Like someone forgot to turn on the lights at the biggest concert ever.”
small “J” frowns. “No stars?”
“Nope. No stars. No sun. Not even one sad moon.”
“What about cats?”
“Patience, little legend. We’ll get to the cats.”
So there I was, floating over the deep void—just me, some water, and a whole lot of potential. And I thought to myself, ‘This is way too boring.’
So I said, ‘Let there be light!’
And BAM! There it was. Bright, beautiful, dramatic. Like opening scene of a blockbuster.
“Were there fireworks?”
“Basically. I invented fireworks, remember?”
Then I separated the light from the darkness—called one ‘Day,’ the other ‘Night.’ Gave people something to argue about for all of eternity. Some like mornings, some like moonlight.
Day one. Classic opener.
Now, day two—this one was tricky. I put up this big dome in the middle of the waters. A firmament. Basically a cosmic ceiling.
small “J” blinks. “A firm-a-what?”
“Just think sky, buddy. Big blue beautiful sky. I called it Heaven. Not the spiritual kind—more like a really high balcony.”
Then came day three, and I said, ‘Let’s see some land.’
And boom—dry land popped up like a mountain out of nowhere. I called it Earth. Gathered the waters and called those Seas.
Then I said, ‘Let there be plants.’
And whoosh! Trees, grass, herbs, fruit—every kind. Stuff with seeds, so it could grow more on its own. Efficiency, right?
“And apples?”
“Oh yeah. Apples. I really should’ve thought twice about those…”
Day four, I figured, let’s decorate the sky.
Hung up the sun to rule the day, the moon for the night, and tossed in stars like sprinkles on the cosmic donut.
small “J” gasps. “You made constellations?”
“I made constellations before people knew how to be dramatic about them.”
And I made it all to help with seasons, calendars, zodiac memes—whatever folks needed.
Then on day five, I said, ‘Let’s get some action in the oceans and sky.’
Fish, whales, dolphins doing flips. Birds swooping, singing, being dramatic.
And I said, ‘Be fruitful and multiply,’ which they took very seriously.
By the end of the day, there were flocks, schools, herds—it was loud.
small “J” giggles. “That’s when you made ducks?”
“Yup. Ducks. And they’ve been confusing people ever since.”
Day six? Oh man, that was a big one.
I brought out all the animals. Lions, elephants, ants, spiders, sloths—fast ones, slow ones, furry, scaly, creepy-crawly. Even the weirdos.
“Even the platypus?”
“I was feeling spicy that day, alright?”
And then—last but not least—I made humans.
In our image, J. With brains, creativity, weird dreams, and a strange love for shiny things.
I said, ‘Here’s the Earth. Take care of it. Rule it. Be kind to the animals. And don’t eat all the bananas in one day.’
Gave them plants to eat, trees to climb, seeds to grow.
They were wild and wonderful—and full of questions.
“Like me?”
“Exactly like you. Beautiful chaos.”
Then I stepped back, looked at everything—sun, sea, squirrels, sky, humanity—and said, ‘That… is very good.’
So I chilled. Took a day off. Even Big G needs to vibe now and then.
small “J” yawns. “And the people? What did they do next?”
“Oh, well… that’s a whole other story, kid. It involves snakes, bad decisions, and fig leaves.”
“Can we do that one tomorrow?”
“You got it, champ. But for now—sleep. Even little gods-in-training need rest.”
Big G kissed small “J” on the forehead, dimmed the stars, and let the universe hum.
