🤑 Weight Loss Jabs and the Great British Missed Opportunity

One in 20 adults is now on semaglutide or similar miracle meds, and Big Pharma’s laughing all the way to the Cayman Islands. So here’s a radical idea: what if our government actually played the game like they had an ounce of entrepreneurial grit?

Imagine this: the NHS bulk-buys these jabs on discount (hello, volume pricing), slaps a “People’s Price” label on it, and sells it back at a reasonable profit — reinvesting into services we actually need. More cash for hospitals. More staff. Fewer five-year waits for a GP appointment. Revolutionary stuff, right?

But no. Our leaders treat the NHS like a half-sunk cruise ship: milk it, patch it up with slogans, and then ask passengers to plug the holes with “community spirit.” 🛳️🥴

Instead of innovating or, God forbid, competing with private industry, they’d rather throw taxpayer billions at middlemen and consultants whose only diet is of public funds. The idea of turning a profit for the public good? That’s communist adjacent, darling. Or worse — it might actually work.

This is the same government that could monetise national weight loss and save the NHS — but instead chooses to let Boots and private clinics hoover up the demand while ministers play dress-up in hi-vis vests and film TikToks about “accessibility.”

So here we are. More demand. No supply. And a government too scared to upset their donors by actually being… useful. 🤷‍♀️
