You know it’s bad when the government’s project timeline starts to resemble a calendar from an alternate universe. The Isle of Islay ferry — the pride of Scotland’s maritime future — was first delayed to March, then “no earlier than the end of Q2 2025.” Tiny problem: we’re already past Q2. ⏰🤦‍♂️

⚙️ The Ferry That Time Forgot

Apparently, time works differently in government memos. While the rest of us move steadily through 2025, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) seems to be running on hope o’clock. Their latest excuse? “Global geopolitical events.” Right. Because when you can’t weld a hull, blame world politics. 🌍🔧

This ferry has been “nearly ready” longer than most reality TV shows have been on air. First promised in 2023, then 2024, now possibly sometime after your next tax hike. And remember — this is just the first of four vessels. At this pace, the final one will be launched in time for King George’s coronation. 👑

Britain once built world-class ships that crossed oceans and defined empires. Now we’re waiting for email updates from a Turkish shipyard that’s running low on workers. The irony could power a small turbine.

Maybe we should rename it The Isle of Delay — at least that would be truth in advertising. ⚓😅

🔥 Challenges 🔥

If the ferries aren’t coming, should we just swim to Islay? Or is it finally time Britain relearned how to build its own boats? 🏊‍♀️🇬🇧
