Let’s make this clear — because no one else will.
Every time you earn a wage, the government takes a chunk.
That’s called income tax and national insurance. You don’t even see it. It’s gone before your money hits the bank.

You want to relax and have a pint?

Want a home? You take out a mortgage.
Guess what? You’re now paying interest to a bank — and those interest rates?
They go up or down based on what?
Government decisions. If they mess up the economy, you pay more.

- You work hard.
- The government taxes your wages.
- Then taxes your spending.
- Then your borrowing becomes more expensive.
- And they use the money you gave them to:
- Pay their own staff
- Fund politicians, civil servants, Lords, and even royals
- Pay for services you barely use or can’t access

When a civil servant pays taxes, they’re just recycling your money.
