In a bold display of consistency, the government has once again proven that if thereβs a job to be lost, theyβll find a way to lose it. This time, itβs the trail hunting scene facing the axeβputting around 1,000 workers and countless hounds on the chopping block in the name of progress, compassion, or whichever buzzword is trending this week.
π― Compassion Selectively Applied (Terms and Conditions May Vary)
Letβs all take a moment to applaud. π Truly, it takes a special kind of determination to simultaneously dismantle livelihoods while patting yourself on the back for moral superiority.
Huntsmen, kennel workers, rural staffβcollateral damage in a policy thatβs less βreformβ and more βwipe the slate clean and hope no one notices.β Because nothing screams forward-thinking governancelike pulling the rug out from under entire communities and calling it virtue.
And of course, this isnβt just about jobsβitβs about heritage. Generations of rural tradition, swept aside like yesterdayβs headlines. One more thread pulled from the already fraying fabric of British identity. π¬π§βοΈ
But hereβs where the logic really stretches its legs. The argument? Hunting is too cruel. Too barbaric. Too much for modern sensibilities. Meanwhile, on the global stage, governmentsβincluding our ownβcontinue to support military actions, drone strikes, and conflicts that make a fox chase look like a nature documentary gone mildly off-script.
Apparently, a hound chasing a fox is an unforgivable moral outrageβ¦ but geopolitical warfare? Thatβs just Tuesday. ππ£
The contrast would be hilarious if it werenβt so painfully absurd. Weβve entered an era where morality is curatedβcarefully applied where itβs politically convenient, and quietly ignored where itβs not.
And letβs not forget the dogs. Thousands of hounds, purpose-bred and trained, now facing an uncertain future. Retirement plan? Non-existent. Rehoming? Optimistic at best. The uncomfortable question lingers: what happens when ideology outruns practicality?
But fear notβthis is all for the greater good. Or at least, thatβs what the press release will say.
Because if thereβs one thing this government excels at, itβs unwavering consistencyβ¦ in making sure fewer people have jobs by the end of the week. π

Is this progressβor just another headline masking real-world fallout? Where do we draw the line between ethics and economics? And who gets to decide which traditions survive and which are sacrificed?
