A love story turned courtroom dramaâwhere unity gave way to infighting, and solidarity was swapped for saboteur cosplay on social media.
đ Welcome to the Thunderdome of Ideological Purity
Once upon a protest, the progressive left stood united in purpose, even if divided in playlist choices. Climate warriors broke bread with queer rights activists, who high-fived anti-capitalists, who awkwardly nodded along to anarcho-vegans quoting Judith Butler. But now? Itâs less intersectionality and more ideological cage fight, with everyone armed and no oneâs sure why.
London Pride became the latest stage for this tragicomic opera: Youth Demand activists ambushed a Cisco float, accusing them of complicity in Israeli military tech. But instead of corporate reckoning, what they delivered was a hijacked queer celebrationâcomplete with rainbow-washed moral grandstanding and paint-splattered PR disasters.
Solidarity didnât just crack. It face-planted.
Intersectionality? Thatâs soooo last season. Todayâs activism is a cutthroat Olympics of Oppression Top Trumps: Whoâs more woke? Whoâs not woke enough? And who deserves cancellation by lunchtime? If youâre not stacking causes like activist PokĂŠmon cards in the correct order, youâre clearly part of the neoliberal oppressor complex. Or worse: âcentrist adjacent.â đą
𧨠When Protest Becomes Pageantry
Itâs hard to tell if weâre witnessing a revolution or a rehearsal for a Vice documentary.
Is gluing yourself to a float at Pride bold activismâor just an Instagram thirst trap with ideological captions? Because when you block a parade celebrating LGBTQ+ survival to dunk on a tech company, youâre not dismantling systemsâyouâre erasing joy. Pride isnât a whiteboard for political scrawls; itâs a lifeline. And no, your handmade placard doesnât give you license to trample othersâ safe spaces.
And letâs not forget the cherry on this chaotic cake: the media eats it up. Nothing thrills the right-wing press more than watching the left perform a public ritual of self-destruction, complete with hashtags and internal purges. Itâs like watching a snake try to swallow its own tail while yelling âThis is praxis!â
𧟠The Cult of Clean Conscience and Dirtier Optics
Weâve hit peak righteousness inflation. No oneâs building coalitions anymoreâtheyâre building resumes for their next debate club TED Talk. You need to be 100% aligned, 100% of the time, or youâre one tweet away from exile. Itâs not activism. Itâs an eternal purity tribunal with a rotating jury of the Very Online.
Meanwhile, the real villainsâclimate criminals, oil execs, warlords in tiesâare chilling in Davos, sipping cocktails made from our rage while we fight over hashtags.
And yes, the right is watching. And pointing. And laughing. Not because theyâre clever, but because weâre giving them the punchline gift-wrapped in biodegradable, ethically sourced irony.
