“People of Britain… it’s me, Keir. And I owe you an apology.”
I stand before you with the Union Jack behind me, but a heavy weight on my shoulders. I’ve soiled the good name of that flag. I’ve let you down, and tonight I ask—not demand, not insist—but ask you for forgiveness.
I jailed women for what should never have been crimes—snapping under the weight of life, being “a bit too uptight” in moments of pain.
I failed you on growth—the only thing I grew was the migrant numbers and the dole queue. That is not prosperity. That is failure, my failure.
I botched business by giving Ed Miliband the keys to energy policy. One man, one portfolio, and suddenly Aberdeen and the North Sea were left hanging by a thread.
Angela Rayner? I tried to manage her obsession with housing, but instead of building homes, she bought them. And I let it slide.
The NHS—I failed you there too. Doctors and nurses bled for this country during a pandemic, and I said I couldn’t give them a raise. Why? Because it looked more compassionate to house migrants in hotels than to stand by the very people who kept us alive.
Pensioners slipped through my cuts for now, but I have to admit this: I had them in my sights.
And the disabled?
Easy targets, I thought. Their crutches are still standing, but for how long? The next time I will knock those crutches straight from under them.
And now, onward, upward, off to war. Because what’s a leader without a war? The arms companies will profit, I will posture, and you will pay.
So I bow my head and say to you—not as a politician, but as a man—can you forgive me? Can you find it in your heart to look me in the eye and say, “Keir, you’ve failed us, but we’ll give you one more chance”?
I am asking you now, people of Britain: Will you accept my apology? Or will you turn your back on me as I turned mine on you?

If Keir Starmer ever begged the nation for forgiveness in this way—would you accept it? Would you cheer his honesty or laugh him off the stage? What would you demand he apologise for first? Tell us in the blog comments. 💬
