🏴‍☠️👑Political historians were left stunned this week after rumours emerged that a newly elected MP may be a member of the legendary and entirely fictional Order of the Crossed Fingers — a secret society whose members have allegedly spent centuries swearing solemn oaths while simultaneously keeping an escape clause tucked discreetly behind their backs. 🤫✋

The mystery deepened after observers noticed a peculiar finger arrangement during an oath of allegiance ceremony. To ordinary people it looked harmless enough. But conspiracy theorists immediately recognised the ancient symbol of the Order, known as The Parliamentary Pretzel.

Coincidence? They think not.

🕵️ The Brotherhood of Plausible Deniability

According to fictional lore, the Order was founded in a misty Highland cave sometime between the invention of haggis and the discovery that politicians occasionally change their minds.

Members supposedly swear allegiance to absolutely everybody at once:

✔️ The King

✔️ The People

✔️ Their Constituents

✔️ The Nation

✔️ Their Party

✔️ Themselves

✔️ Whoever is currently winning the argument

Ancient Order documents allegedly contain the famous motto:

“I solemnly swear to support all sides until further notice.” 📜😂

Witnesses claim members undergo rigorous training involving advanced oath management, emergency U-turns, and competitive fence-sitting.

👑 The Grand Master of Crossed Fingers

Experts in fictional secret societies believe crossed fingers are not simply a gesture.

They are, according to legend, a mystical legal loophole.

Once activated, the bearer gains the supernatural ability to say:

“Yes, I said that.”

followed shortly by:

“That’s not what I meant.”

followed by:

“You’ve taken it out of context.”

followed by:

“I stand by my remarks.”

before eventually concluding:

“I have no further comments.”

The complete ceremonial cycle can reportedly be completed in under six minutes. ⏱️

If the Order of the Crossed Fingers really exists, who else belongs to it?

Politicians? CEOs? Football club owners? Weather forecasters who promised sunshine? 🌦️
