Weāre told there are now around 20,000 foreign criminals in the UK who have avoided deportation.
The Government promises tougher action.
The public wonders why it has taken so long.
Then again, perhaps weāre looking at this all wrong.
If some of our own politicians are criminals and can survive scandal after scandal, broken promises, investigations and endless U-turnsā¦
ā¦maybe having a criminal record is becoming an unofficial qualification for public life.
Imagine the job advert:
āExperience in avoiding consequences preferred. Accountability optional. Thick skin essential.ā
No wonder deportations are proving difficult.
Weād be sending away some of the countryās most experienced practitioners.
Perhaps Westminster is less a Parliamentā¦
ā¦and more a rehabilitation programme with excellent expenses.

Challenge
Should foreign criminals who have completed their sentences be deported wherever legally possible, or are there circumstances where they should remain?
