🇫🇷🚤For nearly three decades, former British paratrooper Karl Bushby has been attempting one of the most extraordinary journeys ever undertaken—walking around the world without using conventional transport.

After 28 years, mountains, deserts, jungles, frozen wilderness and countless international borders, what finally stopped him?

The French coastguard. 🇫🇷

🚨 Amazing What They Can Stop When They Really Want To

You couldn’t make it up.

An ex-paratrooper attempting to swim across the English Channel as part of an epic around-the-world expedition is stopped almost immediately.

Yet critics point to the continuing flow of small boats across the Channel and ask the obvious question…

If the authorities can find the determination to stop one determined ex-soldier, why does preventing organised illegal crossings appear to be so much more difficult?

Whether you agree with the comparison or not, the contrast is hard to ignore.

Karl Bushby wasn’t trying to disappear into Britain. He wasn’t avoiding the authorities. His route, his identity and his ambition have been public knowledge for years.

Yet somehow, this is where official efficiency suddenly springs into action.

Perhaps the French authorities deserve credit for enforcing maritime safety rules. Equally, many will wonder why that same level of resolve doesn’t always seem visible when dealing with other Channel crossings.

Sometimes reality writes satire better than any comedian ever could. 🎭
