Here he comes again—Sir Keir Starmer, clipboard in hand, rolling out another “reset.” This time, the Prime Minister’s bright idea for a revitalised Britain is… cutting welfare. Because when you can’t get pensioners under control, can’t get a grip on migration, and can’t fix the NHS, the obvious move is to take a swing at the one safety net Labour once prided itself on creating.

🏴 From Welfare State to Surplus-to-Requirement

Labour built the welfare state as a promise: security from cradle to grave, protection when the storms hit. Now it’s treated like an unwanted subscription service—something “surplus to requirement.” Starmer’s new Downing Street team says it’s all about “revamping disability benefits,” but we’ve heard that script before. It starts with “revamp,” ends with “reduce,” and somewhere in the middle, real people fall through the cracks.

💼 The Great Reset, or the Great Shrug?

This “reset” is classic Starmerism: bland packaging around brutal cuts. He can’t win against the grey vote, he can’t handle the border crisis, so he’s turned his attention to those least able to fight back. Pensioners are untouchable, migrants are politically explosive—so the welfare state becomes the convenient punching bag. It’s austerity with better PR, and a red rosette pinned on top.

🛋️ But What About Government’s Own Bloat?

And here’s the kicker: when will Starmer stop hacking at the weakest branches and start pruning the dead wood at the top?

• A bloated House of Lords, stuffed with unelected seat-warmers cashing £380 a day for nodding off in ermine robes.
• A royal family out of date, costing taxpayers millions to maintain palaces, pageantry, and PR, while ordinary families freeze and food banks struggle.
• Ministries stacked with consultants, special advisers, and civil service redundancies that never materialise.

If Starmer is serious about “savings,” maybe start with the luxuries of the elite before tightening the belt on those already on breadlines.

🎭 A Party Eating Its Own Creation

It’s almost Shakespearean: Labour dismantling its own proud legacy, brick by brick. The welfare state that once defined Britain now treated like a bureaucratic nuisance. Instead of shoring it up for the 21st century, Starmer’s team acts as though compassion is an extravagance Britain can no longer afford. The irony would be funny—if it wasn’t so bleak.

Why is it always the poor, the disabled, and the vulnerable asked to tighten their belts—while the Lords and royals gorge at the table? Shouldn’t the “reset” start at the top, where the waste is most obscene? 👑🛋️💸
