🎡🧭A decade ago, Zack Polanski reportedly framed support for him as support “for Israel” while standing for the Liberal Democrats. Now, as Green Party leader, he finds himself banned from Israel after his party adopted a motion defining Zionism as racism — a policy he did not vote on, having left the conference to campaign elsewhere. Green members backed the motion by 1,022 votes to 813, and Israel responded by barring him from entry.
From “Vote for Israel” to “Sorry, You’re Not Coming In” — The Great Ideological Hokey Cokey
🕺🚫Politics is full of U-turns, but this one needs its own roundabout, traffic warden, and emergency services. One minute, Polanski is apparently waving the “for Israel” banner like a Lib Dem with a laminated pledge card; the next, he’s leading a party whose members have voted to brand Zionism as racism — and suddenly Israel has put him on the political no-fly list. ✈️❌
That’s not evolution. That’s ideological parkour.
Now, people can change. Views can mature. Beliefs can shift. But when your public journey looks less like “deep reflection” and more like a satnav screaming “recalculating” every seven seconds, voters are entitled to ask: where exactly is the destination?
Polanski says antisemitism and criticism of the Israeli state must remain distinct, and that Jewish people and Palestinians both deserve safety and rights. That is the careful, diplomatic version. But the party he leads has just walked into one of the most explosive political debates in the world wearing clown shoes, carrying a megaphone, and insisting this is all perfectly normal. 🎪📢
This is the problem with modern politics: conviction is out, choreography is in. Stand here, say this, pivot there, disclaim that, offend everyone, then release a statement about unity before lunch.
A leader is meant to steer the ship. Not stand on deck shouting, “I personally didn’t vote for the iceberg.” 🧊🚢
🔥 Challenges🔥
Is this political growth, political confusion, or just another public figure trying to ride every moral wave without getting wet? 🌊
Tell us what you think in the blog comments — has Polanski changed his mind, lost the plot, or simply discovered that political branding is easier than actual leadership?
