💷🏴Scotland has spent generations supplying Britain with oil, gas, energy, investment and jobs. Now, under Labour’s plans to halt new North Sea exploration, Scotland is being asked to make another enormous economic sacrifice in the name of saving the planet.
But who’s going to pay Scotland for the potential wealth, investment and employment opportunities that could be lost?
And where is the SNP in this argument?
Where is the demand for compensation? Where is the insistence that Aberdeen’s economic future must be protected? Where is the financial guarantee that Scotland will not be left carrying the cost of Westminster’s environmental ambitions?
When will the SNP tell Westminster that Scotland’s resources are not something to be written off without a financial reckoning?
💀Aberdeen: From Oil Capital to Green Energy Graveyard?
Imagine spending decades building one of the world’s great offshore energy industries, only to discover that the politicians have decided its future from behind a desk.
Thousands of livelihoods, decades of expertise, engineering businesses, supply chains and investment opportunities all hanging in the balance.
And what does Aberdeen get in return?
Another speech about a greener tomorrow? 🌱
Another glossy government brochure featuring smiling engineers standing beside a wind turbine?
Another promise that exciting opportunities are just around the corner?
Try paying your mortgage with an exciting opportunity. The bank might even give you a round of applause before repossessing the house. 🏦
The serious question is whether restrictions on future exploration will cost Scotland investment and employment that could otherwise have supported its economy for years to come.
If Westminster wants those opportunities left beneath the North Sea, why shouldn’t Scotland demand a financial settlement for the potential sacrifice?
🌬️Wind Turbines Across Scotland — But Where’s the Cheap Electricity?
Look across Scotland’s hills and landscapes.
Wind turbines here. Wind turbines there. Wind turbines stretching towards the horizon like enormous mechanical sunflowers.
We’re told they represent the future.
We’re told Scotland is helping lead the green energy revolution.
We’re told renewable energy will bring prosperity.
So when does the ordinary Scottish household get the cheaper electricity? ⚡💷
When will pensioners see the benefit?
When will families struggling with household bills see the rewards?
When will communities surrounded by wind farms receive a meaningful financial return?
Or is Scotland destined to become one enormous electricity-generating landscape while the people living in it continue wondering where all the promised benefits have gone?
Scotland supplies the wind, Scotland hosts the turbines, Scotland lives with the changing landscape — but where is the guaranteed financial dividend for Scotland’s people?
🏛️SNP: WHERE IS YOUR DEMAND FOR SCOTLAND’S MONEY?
This is where the spotlight falls squarely on the SNP.
Not Westminster. Not the oil companies. Not the environmental campaigners.
The SNP.
The party that has spent years talking about Scotland’s resources, Scotland’s wealth and Scotland’s right to determine its own future.
So where is the uncompromising demand for compensation if UK Government policy restricts Scotland’s future North Sea opportunities?
Where is the price tag for the potential lost earnings?
Where is the demand for guaranteed replacement investment in Aberdeen?
Where is the promise that Scotland’s energy-producing communities will receive cheaper electricity?
And where is the ultimatum that Scotland must not be expected to carry an economic burden without an agreed financial settlement?
Scotland doesn’t need another political speech filled with words like transition, sustainability and opportunity.
Scotland needs to know what the sacrifice is worth — and who is going to pay for it.
Because there’s a remarkable difference between saving the planet and expecting someone else to pick up the bill. 🌍💸
