There are few greater joys in parenting than discovering you can get out of taking your three children to soft play. No screaming, no sweaty socks, no overpriced coffee, and no crawling through a plastic tunnel designed for someone with the flexibility of a six-year-old gymnast. It’s not laziness. It’s survival. πŸ˜‚

πŸ› Soft Play: Where Childhood Dreams Come True and Parents Lose the Will to Live!

Let’s be clear. Whoever invented soft play clearly didn’t have three children and a nervous system.

You arrive with three excited little angels and leave two hours later with three furious negotiators, a mysterious rash, a missing sock, and the thousand-yard stare of someone who’s just survived a hostage situation.

There’s always one child stuck at the top of a slide, another crying because someone looked at their juice, and a third who’s somehow managed to disappear into a fluorescent maze of netting and questionable hygiene.

Meanwhile, you’re sitting on a plastic chair that was presumably rejected by the prison service, drinking a Β£4 coffee that tastes like warm disappointment.

And then there’s the dreaded announcement: “FIVE MORE MINUTES!”

A phrase that means absolutely nothing to children and signals the beginning of a diplomatic crisis that makes international peace negotiations look straightforward.

Getting three children into soft play is easy. Getting them out requires the patience of a saint, the negotiating skills of a UN ambassador, and occasionally the promise of McDonald’s.

So yes, if there’s a legitimate opportunity to avoid soft play, I’m taking it.

Call me selfish. Call me irresponsible. Call me a terrible example of modern parenting.

I’ll be at home, enjoying a cup of tea that hasn’t been knocked over by a seven-year-old dressed as Spider-Man. β˜•πŸ˜‚
